Something NEW for Easter – Review of Egglo’s Egg-cellent Easter Adventure and Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs

This parenting review is for all my readers who celebrate Easter.  This is especially for those readers who are frustrated with the disconnect between the origin of this celebration and a furry  bunny that delivers candy filled eggs.  Egglo Eggs is the brain child of Darcie Cobos, owner of Egglo Entertainment (

These two products were up for review this time:

Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure

This book has: action, mystery, suspense, a treasure hunt and time travel.  It puts the bible verses in context as the children visit “where the pharaohs reigned”.  You have true sibling interaction between the three kids.  They tease and argue but support each other when times are darkest.  Along the way, the kids receive a quality bible verse that helps them become a better person and they receive some clue to where the next Easter egg is.Let’s talk about the story first.  Welcome to the family!  The players are: Mom, Dad, brother Hardy, sister Anastasia, cousin Pascal and dog Zeke.  The scene begins in chaos, as most households with small children are.  The mom wants to do a very special Easter Egg hunt this year, but it won’t begin until nightfall.  The three children get into plenty of mischief between that moment and the hunt.  Their adventure begins in the attic, takes them to Egypt, Easter Island, under the sea, to the edge of a volcano and finally to a “lush, green” valley.

Spoiler alert:In the end, Hardy learns to have a gentler heart, Ana becomes braver and Pascal learns to take guidance.  If your kids struggle with any of those issues, you should pick up this book.

Review & Rating:

I would rate this PG.  At one point a character is dangling over hot lava.  One of the lessons is to be more thoughtful and considerate so naturally there are some thoughtless and selfish actions and unkind words spoken by the kids.  The suspense is actually a very good thing however, because it captures the attention of the children listening to the story.

Let’s talk about the Eggs now: Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs

My girls had these out of the package and off in their playroom before I even had a chance to read the story to them for the first time.  Huge hit!  They are of sturdy construction and glow in the dark nicely.  I’m not sure what effect it had, but my girls “charged” the eggs in the sunshine on the afternoon they arrived and they glowed in the dark very brightly.

Other awesome products to have:

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure (book audio download)
Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide

We live by audio books being in the car between activities, so this was a lovely addition.  Good narration, good enunciation.

The Scripture Scrolls will be in all the eggs we give out this year.  They are of quality construction: as in I could open and close them without tearing or breaking them.  I’m thrilled to have something besides jelly beans with which to be stuffing our eggs.

The Program Guide was a life saver for incorporating this into our curriculum.  It will help you out with things like: opening activities, devotions, Bible memory verses activities, and even snack suggestions.  My girls loved making the snacks that went along with the story.  They competed with memorizing the verses and I’ve been trying to get them into verses for years.  I am overjoyed with that side effect of this story.
