Bergsrud and Uzodike Recognized by National Achievement Scholarship Program

Seniors Simone Bergsrud and Muna Uzodike, both seniors at The John Cooper School, have been named among 3,100 outstanding high school seniors nationwide as an Outstanding Participant in the 2015 National Achievement Scholarship Program. This academic competition was established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students.

Students enter the competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and meeting other requirements for participation. Joe Broccoli, Cooper’s Head of Upper School, recognized both students and presented them with certificates in honor of their achievements at a weekly assembly in October.

The John Cooper School is a college preparatory, independent school for students in Prekindergarten through Grade 12. Admission Open Houses for families interested in information about applying for the 2015-16 academic year are scheduled on campus on December 6 and January 10 at 2 p.m.
