Tell us about your business…

What is Stella and Dot?

Stella and Dot is an incredibly innovative boutique style jewelry line and Inc. 500 Fastest-Growing Company! The Chief Creative officer, Blythe Harris, attended the Parsons School of Design in Paris and has designed for Cartier, DeBeers and Banana Republic. Stella and Dot's CEO, Jessica Herrin, was honored by Ernst & Young and Inc. 500 as a Top Entrepreneur. The jewelry can be seen on countless celebrities on Good Morning America, in Vogue, Real Simple, Redbook, People Style Watch and US Weekly just to name a few. Stella and Dot is 100% flexible! There are no rules for sales, quotas or pressure. You work around your schedule.

What got you started?

I got started as a stylist in March to help out with the cost of physical and feeding therapy for my youngest baby boy who was born prematurely and has a digestive disorder. I was hoping to earn enough each month to help with the medical expenses and it turned out to be a lot more profitable than I thought in a very short amount of time. Being on the ground floor of such a new and fast growing company is very exciting! I have not only been able to pay for my son's expenses, I have had fun doing it and began sponsoring a team of fabulous ladies.

How do you balance working from home and your children's schedule?

I have learned how to time block to take care of both home and work agendas. At the beginning of the month I highlight days that I am going to be available for shows and all family events or school function days are not available. Because of the innovative design of the website stylists have, I have access to everything I need to run my business online. That really helps me to be efficient and work from anywhere when I choose to. I have been waiting in a Doctor's office and taken care of an order on my i-phone. I have also listened to training on the go and accessed all of my contacts while away from home.

Looking back, what was your proudest moment?

My proudest moment was in June. I was number one in sales in our Region.  I was not shooting for that at all.  My goal was to have ten trunk shows and save enough for several months of therapy.  I went for my personal goal and achieved it and the accomplishment was "icing on the cake".  My son has always been my "why" behind my business and he has inspired me to go for my goals.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I have a heart for encouraging other moms who are going through "hard times". There were many days spent in the hospital and lots of tears shed the first year of my baby's life. When I realized the medical expenses for my darling were going to be great, I had never dreamed I would be able to cover them through such a part time avenue. I am looking forward to celebrating others successes with Stella and Dot and adding other women to my team. I am always open to sharing the opportunity and letting someone decide if it is for them.

What would you like the readers to know about your business?

I would really like readers to know that Stella and Dot is a company that supports women in whatever their goals may be. You do as little or as much as you want. It has been fun and rewarding for me to meet and style so many ladies.  There is no pressure and no huge presentation. I am not a "sales" person so that is perfect for me. Another amazing part of Stella and Dot is their Foundation. The mission of the Stella & Dot Foundation is to help empower women and children through economic and educational development. There are specific jewelry pieces that are sold year round and 100% of the proceeds benefit the foundation.  If you are interested in seeing the line or finding out more about the opportunity my contact information is below.
