Prelude Family Concert at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, May 6

THE WOODLANDS, TX –April 22, 2015 –The Woodlands Children’s Museum turns into a concert hall when the Prelude Family Concert series takes the stage.

The concert will begin at 10:45 a.m. and again at noon on Wednesday, May 6. The museum is located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands, 77381. The concert is included in the cost of admission, which is $5 for children 2 years and older.

“Prelude’s Family sing-a-long concerts are interactive musical experiences for the whole family,” said Angela Colton, the museum’s executive director. “We’re honored to serve as host for this wonderful event.”

The Prelude concerts are now a monthly event at the museum.

Prelude Music Classes for Children was founded by husband and wife team, Ana Treviño-Godfrey and Jonathan Godfrey. She is an acclaimed opera singer, and he is a renowned violinist. They are also the founders of Mercury Orchestra.

Treviño-Godfrey explained that the school uses the Music Together curriculum – an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children developed by Kenneth K. Guilmartin and Lili M. Levinowitz.

“I love teaching Music Together and being a part of a family’s musical journey,” Treviño-Godfrey said. “It’s a wonderful program where children come with their parents or care provider and sing and dance and play in class as they bond with their parents.”

Jonathan Godfrey echoed his wife’s sentiments. “You’re creating lifelong memories through music and a sense of basic music competence in your children,” he said. “Many children are able to sing to an accurate pitch and beat to an accurate rhythm all before they’re even speaking.”

The couple is convinced that every child has musical capability. The classes they offer cater to infants to 7-year-olds – and children come to learn with their parents or caregivers.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum has a full calendar of events and workshops that celebrate the arts. The museum also has a number of educational exhibits and space for creative play.
