Eagle Scout Project Brings New Archery Range To the Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center

The Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center has a new archery range thanks to local Scout, Christopher Goize. Christopher, a senior at The Woodlands High School, selected the Creekside YMCA for his Eagle Scout Project. Chris has been a Boy Scout since 5th Grade and a resident of The Woodlands for 8 years. “One of my requirements for becoming an Eagle Scout was to plan, prepare and lead a project that would benefit a non-profit organization”, states Goize. “I wanted to give back to the local YMCA because they have generously provided a meeting room at the Branch Crossing YMCA for our weekly Scout meetings for several years. After some discussion with the Y Directors, I learned that the Creekside Y needed a new archery range, and from there I decided to take on the project”.

The new archery range has been well received by guests and groups visiting the Creekside YMCA and will be very popular activity with all the summer campers. With the addition of the new archery range at the Creekside YMCA, the camp staff  have included an Archery Specialty Camp on the summer schedule for ages 8 – 12, June 17 – 21 and July 29 – August 2. There are plans to add archery lessons to the Fall Schedule.
