Now registering for Fun Quest Spring Break Camp where each day is packed with fun! Camp is for boys and girls (K-6th grade) under the close supervision of trained Fun Quest staff (10:1camper/ staff ratio). Games, sports, hiking, crafts, skits, songs and special activities will be a part of each day. Swimming is part of the weekly plan, and a field trip to Old McDonalds Farm is on the schedule as well! Camp Fun Quest will operate at Oscar Johnson, Jr. Center (100 Park Place) from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  March 10-14.  The cost for the camp is $90 for Conroe residents and $110 for non-residents.  Register at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center. Work one on one with a certified Water Safety Instructor and get the extra instruction that you need. Thirty-minute and one hour sessions are available. Registration begins on Monday, March 17th. Homeschool PE is full of age appropriate activities that include fitness, fundamental and sport specific skills. Improve your child’s strength, increase endurance, and build self-esteem.  Held on Tuesdays from 1pm to 2pm, this class consists of a warm-up, stretch, sport/game, and a cool down. The North Side Karate program offers a unique blend of martial with six different styles- Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Free Style Karate, Shotokan, Wing Chug, and Jeet Kune Do.  Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, beginner at 6:30pm, advanced at 7:15pm. Class sessions and registration are ongoing. Class observation is welcomed. Monthly fee is $65 for City resident and $81 for non-residents.  Financial assistance is available for qualifying families. Nothing But Bull – The Anti-Bully Class

Hey Kids and Adults, did you know Bullies are nothing but Bull? Nothing but Bull – The Anti-Bully Class is your chance to recognize and probably tame a bully. Join an exciting class with 6th degree black belt Gabriella Roberts and conquer your fear. Learn what to do in a bully situation and how to become a great bystander. Turning victims into victors in this hand on training in assertive skills, as well as non-aggressive techniques. The next class is Saturday, April 12, 10:00am to 3:00pm. A variety of martial arts classes are offered through the City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department.  American Society of Karate is held on Monday evenings at the Activity Center and teaches the art, sport, and self-defense aspects of American karate.  Karate Academy is held at the Activity Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and is based on traditional Japanese discipline.  Class sessions and registration are ongoing. Adult softball leagues are forming now for men’s and co-ed softball teams.  League schedule consists of a seven week season, two games per night, fourteen games total.  Games are played at Carl Barton, Jr. Park softball complex.  Cost per team is $400. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course is a two weekend class that covers leadership, rescue skills, emergency response, first aid, and CPR. After School Recreation Program

The City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department provides one of the best and most affordable alternatives to children going home alone after school. Staff can assist with homework and provide recreational opportunities in a safe and fun environment from school release until 6:30pm. Students attending Anderson, Armstrong, Reaves, Runyan, Sam Houston and Wilkinson will participate in the program at their school. Students attending Bozman, Cryar, Giesinger, Rice, and Travis will be transported and participate in the program at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center. Monthly cost is $90 for resident and $110 for non-resident. No additional cost for transportation. Financial assistance is available for qualified families. The Oscar Johnson Jr. Community Center provides an open gym for students in third through twelfth grade at Washington Junior High School. The program is offered Monday through Thursday, 6-8pm, on school days. Students must be passing all classes to participate. Limited transportation is available to and from the program site. The C.K. Ray Recreation Center has something for everyone!  Our expanded fitness center features Precor and Cybex cardio equipment and Cybex weight machines. Sign up for personal training with one of our knowledgeable trainers at the C.K. Ray Recreation Center. A certified personal trainer helps you start with valuable information and personal attention. A one-hour session will evaluate your current condition and suggest a path to move towards a healthier lifestyle. Sessions are by appointment only for members ages 18 and up with a valid membership. Personal training options include a (1) one person session at $30 per hour, a (2) two person session at $40 per hour, and a (3) three person session at $55 per hour. The City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department has affordable facilities to accommodate your wedding, banquet, meeting, or sports activity.  The Activity Center has 5,000 square feet to accommodate 200, and 3 small meeting rooms accommodate 25 each. The Friendship Center has room to accommodate up to 60. The C.K. Ray Recreation Center gymnasium can facilitate various sporting activities, and the multi-purpose room can accommodate 50.
