Because art matters “goes bananas” for Montgomery County Food Bank.

Collaborative art project created by Artopoly participants for the Montgomery County Food Bank at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.

The Woodlands, TX–Because Art Matters Committee members, volunteers, McCullough Junior High students, and community members who participated in Artopoly at the 9th Annual Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival in April, initiated a collaborative project for the new Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB).  The special installation piece, titled, “Yes, We Have Bananas,” is an Andy Warhol-inspired project that will grace the walls of the new MCFB building. The new facility will feature refrigerator and freezer spaces to that will enable the food bank to provide fresh produce to patrons.

“How fitting it is to have the “Yes, We Have Bananas” piece donated to our organization as we open our new building and launch a new era for the Montgomery County Food Bank,” says Rodney Dickerson, President of the Montgomery County Food Bank.  “We are so pleased to be in partnership with the Because Art Matters program and to help them bring a strong arts presence to our area.”

Art project and all community members can view the unveiling of “Yes, We Have Bananas,” and bring non-perishable food donation items to benefit the Montgomery County Food Bank.  

Up next for Because Art Matters is a summer art project at The Woodlands Mall for 5th and 6th grade students in Montgomery County on July 19, 2014.
