Children’s Museum of Houston’s exhibits and events for August 2015

Now – Jan. 5, 2016

Sponsored by The Fondren Foundation, The William Stamps Farish Fund and Cameron

Immaturity is NOT a four-letter word – literally and metaphorically.  In fact, the Children’s Museum of Houston is out to prove that immaturity and genius go hand in hand with its brand-new exhibit KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature.

Based on KLUTZ® Encyclopedia of Immaturity Vol. 1 and 2, the KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature exhibit will offer you the opportunity to embrace your inner zany genius while exploring what these behaviors can teach you about science, engineering, math, and literacy.

With activities such as pulling a tablecloth out from under a place setting to learn about inertia, building a boomerang as an introduction to elements of aerodynamics, and folding paper rings to explore geometry, KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature will create an environment which encourages multi-generational communication and learning through laughter, play, comedy and memories of different generations’ childhood hijinks.

Produced by the Children’s Museum of Houston in partnership with KLUTZ®, KLUTZ® Amazingly Immature premieres nationally in Houston through Jan. 5, 2016 before travelling to 15-cities over the next six-years.

Now – Nov. 6, 2016

One of the original Children’s Museum of Houston exhibits, Yalálag returns with a facelift and a bang to provide you with the opportunity to experience the day-to-day life of people who live in Villa Hidalgo Yalálag—a Zapotec village located in the Sierra Juárez Mountains of Oaxaca, México.

The exhibit explores the customs, daily life and heritage of modern day people there.

The realistic environments provide authentic opportunities for you to "step into" life in Yalálag and discover a culture that is unique but shares the same social values we do.

You’re invited to an exotic trip south of the border to learn about the cultural attributes that give the people of Yalálag a unique take on life!

So, pack your bags and go on a journey “south of the border.”
