Barnes & Noble Story Time – A Summer Treat

FREE. I can’t believe the summer is nearly over. Many parents are beginning to think about back-to-school supplies and the climbing costs that accompany this hectic time. The story time at Barnes & Noble is one event that won’t take away from your wallet.

CONVENIENT. I saved any mall shopping for the same day. We arrived early and knocked out our shopping before the story. This way, once the 10 minute story concluded, we were just a few doors and parking spots away from our car.

WIDE AGE RANGE. Kids from 2-10 sat in the adorably decorated children’s area and enjoyed the story. Afterwards, they were provided with colors and coloring sheets. Even babies would benefit from a pleasant atmosphere and short read aloud.

LOVE OF LITERATURE. Yes, story time is a great way to escape the summer heat, but it’s also a great way to instill a love of literature in your children. The woman who read to George’s group was sweet, dynamic and just a fun person all the way around. She smiled at George as he mimicked her words as only a two-year-old can do.

You may want to briefly discuss read aloud expectations with your children beforehand. A few quick reminders can help everyone enjoy the story better. This is also an ideal time-right before school starts back up-for kids to practice their read aloud skills.

Make sure no one needs to go to the bathroom before the story starts. You don’t want to miss out on a really great ending.

You can check online for the nearest Barnes & Noble story times. If you live closer to a different bookstore, check online or call. Many bookstores have story times for kids.
